Patch Pals is a playful and secure way for children undergoing long periods of time in hospital care to keep in touch with a small network of their closest friends and family members. Using Augmented-Reality technology, messages from a child's loved ones are sent to a variety of animal themed stickers owned by the child. Using the funding we received from the Starter for 10 program we developed a fully functioning app with the help of AR specialists Play Nicely.
This was a project of mine that resulted from my time at Brighton University. After exhibiting my work at the national New Designers exhibition the project went on to win the Future Pioneer award. From there I won a residency at Pervasive Media Studio and finally it received funding through the Starter for 10 initiative. Collaborating with Morgan Faverty we created Patch Pals.
